I dont have a vice anymore nor do I have a upper vice block. And to not tempt twisting the upper while taking off the flash hider im having a smith do it. I have built a few in the past when I had a home and a garage. I am now in a very tiny apartment thanks to the woderfull economy. I would have done it at work but I was told I would be fired if I brought a "weapon" on the property.

So is it possible to just install a compensator with no smith?

I have one coming. I don't want to damage my stuff...but I don't have vices. Just vice grips.

Caleb, I would have taken just the upper with me to work. It is not a weapon, it simply is machined parts at that point ......

    larue,

if you have a upper vice block and a vice you are good to go. if not you take the chance of twisting the upper and having a crappy fit to your lower until the end of time.

    outsy,

I agree with you on the weapon part. but they are a new employer to me and I dont want to create waves so soon
