.223 vs Deer GRAPHIC IMAGE
I was starting to doubt my spot when I finally spotted a deer, Very large buck, probably the 10pt that I kept seeing before season opened, It was around 200-220 yds off, (I know because I we measured the power poles to be between 100 and 110 yds apart). The big one ran off for what I thought was no reason about the time I got the rifle up and then this one walked out, he started to trot across the power line after the bigger buck and I got off three shots, Heart and lungs were both hit, the third shot hit a tree behind the deer. So I guess the ACOG was sighted in pretty good, and the Barnes VOR-TX 55gr did it's job. I know most might not have taken the shot on a running deer, but I set a goal for myself that I would hit a running deer this year, and a promise to Kelly that I wouldn't take a shot before she got a deer this year unless the deer was a long ways off or running. She said the were to far away for her to hit with her Aimpoint anyway, and I should have been wearing ear-protection because that damn FSC556 still has my ears ringing.
