You rated the Bushnell 4-12 econo AO just a 3.5

I have one (paid $69.97 a Wally World a couple years ago) a Sportview 40mm

I have it mounted on my Marlin 917V .17HMR and absolutely love it, my favorite scope.

Granted, I'm not giving it the recoil that the Leopold 3-9x on my .270 gets, but with a $180 rimfire rifle I've been able to average 0.75" 5-shot groups at 100 meters with it.

Wife and I have a friend who has a gunshop in Niles, Michigan, and he sells some scopes on the internet, let me see if I can find his site. He mentioned he did a big business in one of the "sleeper" type brands when we visited last year.

See, that's my point. The inconsistencies between ones of the same model. I found mine on a blue light special table in K mart for $40 with no packaging. It works - but it does fog up inside....It's currently on my 10/22. If it didn't fog I'd be 99% happy with it.
I guess my quest is to find a reasonable priced scope that just flat performs....I'm not necessarily wanting the cheapest thing.
There's nothing scientific about my ratings - I was trying to give an honest grade for what the particular one does for the money. It wouldn't necessarily reflect the good or bad performance of the next one on the shelf behind it or one you have at home.
