Thread: New 700

Well I purchased another 700 ADL from academy sports. They have them for $349. Calibers I saw were 243, 30-06, 270, 7mm Rem Mag.

Nothing special but have already sourced BDL floor stuff for $25 shipped to me. Now this weekend I can swap out the ADL stock to a BDL and start load development.

It is a 243 BTW. I have a fetish for 243's

Are you going to build this one up like the last one?

Things to do to this rifle are:

1. BDL Conversion, on the way for $25.00
2. Houge Over Molded full bedding block stock (Will use a spare VLS until I get the Houge)
3. Spiral Flute Bolt
4. Lap lugs
5. Muzzle Brake
6. Factory Old Style Trigger Tuned (Loosing the X Mark trigger)
7. KG coated Smooth Satin Black (not rough SPS finish)
8. Skim bed to bedding block

Hopefully will be able to send off next January for this work. I currently have my 308 bench queen off getting the final touches this year.

where do you find the floor plate and trigger housing for a BDL???

I can get them new for $61.00 or there abouts plus shipping but that was more than I wanted to spend so I went to a Sniper message board I frequent often and posted a WTB thread. Since most of those guys snatch the stock stuff out and replace with the detacable mag systems I thought one may have something laying around. Sure enough with in a day I had a guy offer me the floor plate for $25 shipped. I have the internal stuff so the deal was made.

It has been painted with rattle can paint but I can strip that off pretty easy.

Im takinf the floor plate off mine and going with a detach mag, I might just have to buy one of these adl's and start doing some mods to it. cant go wrong for that price

Even for an all out custom based on the 700 you can't beat the price. $349 for a rifle you can play with right out of the box or just an action for $400 something that sits in a box until you have the rest of the parts to build up a custom. But with this ADL you can sale everything you eventually take off (stock, trigger, barrel) and re coup some of your money.

and there are a few others, my suggestion would be to get one that uses Accuracy International magazines. The mags themselves are a little pricey, about 70 bucks each but you can get 5 or 10 rounders.

When I finish my 3gun upper I am going to be saving my pennies to buy a McRee stock for my 700 to go in and it uses AI mags. Can use MORTA mags as well, they are a copy of the AI mag produced for the owner of USOptics.
