    Default 9mm suppressors

    Anybody have one?

I want to do an AR15 build in 9mm.

I had made myself one. They can be extremely finicky, so don't expect them to work great out of the box with any ammo you choose. They will not allow the use of aluminum cased cartridges for example, and I actually had to send my upper back for more tweaking before it got settled in.
Due to the challenges in matching the right recoil spring to the proper 9mm heavy buffer, I cheated the whole design. I built it on a full-length A2 stock tube, with a regular rifle (not carbine) recoil spring and A2 buffer. It was heavy enough to fully cycle, and allowed me to use a sweet ACE FX skeleton stock. The stock is very light, but the 9mm doesn't have any recoil, so it cancels out that disadvantage. I use 115grn target rounds generally, but it will also feed 147grn heavy ball for use with my suppressor (1/2x36 thread, common to 9mm AR's).

I gots one. SWR Trident. worked great out of the box with all ammo, sub and super sonic. don't think I used Al cases but I have used steal cases with no problems.

using a RRA ramped bolt, Hahn top loading mag block, and Hahn pistol cal buffer. went with the hahn b/c it was the heaviest I could find. wanted the chamber closed as long as possible since most of the noise I hear is from the action. I have a 3 lug adapter for the rifle and a 1/2x28 LCD for the pistols.

one thing I did learn is that sub sonic ammo is expensive but the only way to enjoy a can. so I started reloading my own. using the cheap 124gr bullets, used brass, and universal clay powder.

one other thing. the SWR is a larger diameter can so it blocks the sights on pistols. the AAC can is smaller around and you can see the sights. however the fixed barrel adapter on the AAC is a retro fit from what I heard and really affects the accuracy. not seen this in person but heard from a very trusted source....

I got one for my wife that uses Glock mags. I had the barrel threaded 1/2x28 so we could use the Evo9 with it and her Glock 19. I will get around to cutting the barrel down to 10.5" one day.

olympic lowers use the glock mags.

the trident is crazy quiet. the sound of the 124grs hitting the berm is the loudest part shooting steel is much more fun than .22 simply b/c the ding is MUCH better.

c'mon up and I will let you try it out. you can check out our cool stores on this end, and Chris is only about 20 miles from me too.

ETA: this thread needs more pics!

Seth, your rifle is just like something I would want. What lenght is the barrel? What mags do you use?
