    Default 3/2 Gun Training?

As a preface, any thing I'm going to start doing I need to get a new handgun first, my P220 just won't cut it in a 3 gun. I'm just kinda looking for suggestions here

Anyway, some friends of mine who live out in Arizona compete in the Tiger Valley 3 gun every year. I told myself this year that I want to compete in 2012. Besides working out/losing some weight I want to get better at my weapons manipulation. The best course of action is to take some classes but right now I don't think I can afford to take them. I did get a few DVDs and watching those. I try to do drills at the range when I go, but my problem is the rapid fire rules. Every range I know of, for good reason, has no rapid fire rules, but how am I supposed to train for a 3 or 2 gun competition if I can't rapid fire? Or draw from my holster?

One of my friends who goes to TV every year runs this blog and has given me a lot of advice but I just don't have anywhere to practice any sort of live fire exercises.

    Any suggestions would be great.

go to creeekside's 2x22gun matches and then to his 3 gun matches. there are always some newbies out there so you won't feel over whelmed. but there are also enough good guys out there that you can watch and learn what it should look like.

after you are comfortable with those start looking for larger venues near by.

Ok, thanks. I knew Creekside hosted some competitions. Do you know if they allow spectators or not? I'd like to go by once and kinda talk with some guys there.

I got a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 for competition use. Get a good holster and practice drawing. Find videos or go to competitions and what people compete and see how they're operating and try to work out a method that works for you.

    That's my plan.

Do you like the M&P 9? Which model did you get? Have you looked into the Apex part kits?

I use either a Glock 34 or a Springfield XD 9mm. The creekside matches are pretty good. I've been to a few of them.
