Thread: Just a heads up for the other night sky dorks

Jupiter is the closest it has been to earth since the 60's. if you go out and look at the sky, Jupiter will be the brightest object in the sky other than the moon. The three smaller white dots around the big white dots are three of Jupiters elentybillion moons.

Here is a shot I took last night. Taken with a 400mm lens on a tripod and this is an extreme crop. It was also taken at 6400 iso since I don't have any star following equipment.



If you have a good pair of binoculars you might be able to make out the moons.

I was able to count several moons with a 10x bushnell.

just a word of advice, remove the scope from the rifle before looking. neighbors didn't like that too much...
