Here's a great reason article on how that would work...

“Witnessing the Republicans and the Democrats bicker over the U.S. debt is like watching two drunks argue over a bar bill on the Titanic.”
I guess it's too hard a leap to make to realize that maybe it's not the potatoes but rather the deep frying of the potatoes that might be the culprit.
but....I love potatoes
I do love asparagus though......

Give the kids an hour on the playground doing Phys Ed and their would not be a problem.
The democommunists want to turn the country into a 3rd world socialist hellhole populated by cheese eating, surrender monkey, unionized metrosexuals.
wilezcoyote@ ARFCOM Half-Fawns RULE!
next the government will want to limit all of us on potatoes....and then meat....
then there will be rioting in the streets and nation wide blood shed (except in California...the bunch of hippies)

The high schools I have taught in..... the lunchroom... french fries.... deep fried in oil... the students went after them big time and usually drowned them in ranch dressing. That can't be all good, can it? How about some asparagus with hollandaise sauce instead?
If you live in Mexico, do you have to press 1 for Spanish?
Potatoes are good nutrition food. i agree they shouldn't always be deep fried but people have been eating all kinds of potatoes for generations. Time for our government to let it's Free peoples eat as they wish. We don't need government dictating to us, just use common sense. Get the kids more active in the outdoors.
Sorry for the large print, having major eye problems at the moment and felt the need to comment on this issue.

Hold My Beer and Watch This!
That's what I'm thinking. They're talking mostly about the school lunch menus.
There are A LOT of improvements that could be done to school lunches. Lots of fried foods is just one thing. Notice how that kid said he loved tater tots? Not a nice healthy baked potato?
In high school, I took my lunch money to the store and made my own lunches. In the meantime I noticed how most kids would take that money, not spend any on real food, but buy all the cookies, cakes, puddings, and breakfast hash browns they could eat. One of the offered dishes was a plate of fries....that's it....a plate of seasoned fries. For another fifty cents you got a cup of cheese. But the main problem is not what was offered.....it was that kids chose to eat it. What you noticed is that most of the athletes opted to eat the salads and wraps. That stuff was good....MMMMMHMMM!
I do think that they are on the right track to want to fix some the school nutrition, but this particular decision would just be sort of a simple fraud of a solution that hasn't been given full exploration. LOTS of things need to change for the health of the children, not just limited to the nutrition programs, but to the fitness programs as well.
