Day at the range,

We started at the hundred and I was having trouble getting the dope set for my .308 but finally got it set. We then moved to the 300 yard after setting up some 120mm clays and some prescription bottles filled with tannerite. We have to use small ones since the RO isn’t too keen on the idea. After setting up and putting a few more rounds down range I decided the reason I was having all that trouble was my scope was too flippin far forward. I moved it back, but when I did I changed the dope and it took a whole box of ammo to get it close to being back on but I was still missing 2 out of 3 shots. My wife would spot for me and I ended up just holding over some to get the hits I was able to make. I was using an IOR 4x14 set on 10x. I finally said screw it since I didn’t want to waste a box of Black Hills Match screwing around.

I then pulled out my M4 with a Leopold MK4 1x3. I then proceeded to start popping clays one right after another with a 3 power scope. My wife then got behind my buddies Savage 300WinMag and with her first shot rang the 10 inch steel plate. After a few more rounds she moved over to my AR and commented that she can’t see the targets. I told her to put the dot 3” above the 8” plate. Se nailed it with her first two shots, missed the third and nailed it with her next three.

Right now I have a Savage 10FP with a threaded barrel I have been trying to sell but now I think she wants me to set it up for her to shoot distance. Looks like I am going to have get it done before I head over to the sand box in the next month.

We’ll be going back to get some trigger time in two weeks, hopefully I’ll have something set up for her by then.
