Default In the running for another promotion

I took a mechanics job with a company that is sub contracted with the parent company here. I was barely in country 45 days before I was offered a job as senior mechanic. I officially was hired as a senior mechanic on 18 Dec. I haven't even got my first pay check from this company yet and I am now in contention to be promoted to Lead mechanic over at an Army Maintenance Support Team. Unfortunately I won't be hearing anything back for the next two weeks. The one thing I really have going for me is the supervisor there really wants to have me there. As a matter of fact I asked him what kind of questions to expect from his interview and he told me "is your name Chris Hunt". As far as he is concerned I have a lock on the job. Unfortunately thought there is this other guy who is buddy buddy with the project manager here and he is also applying for the same position.

The way it's supposed to work is the supervisor is supposed to interview and select his leads, but there may be some politicing going on. Hopefully David can prevail because my qualifications for the position clearly slam this other guys abilities into the ground. (the supervisors words)

    Y'all wish me luck.

I got some pics of the guys on the team I have now and I'll get them posted up when I down load them from the camera and host them.

Take care and have a happy new year.

    Chris

Hmmmm. Politics over there are painful. Worked for more than one unqualified super. She was friends for the country manager, so yeah...

I won't be taking my R&R until the end of March or first part of April now. Since I did an in-country hire I pretty much screwed the 60 days I spent here with the first company. Oh well, the extra 1000 dollars a pay check will be worth it, and if I get this job the pay will go up another 800 to 1000 more. Once I land this position I will start focusing on building my position to get an FSR job with one of the MRAP manufactures. Then I am looking at doubling the money.

Force Protection was building some in Charleston awhile back, but I think they moved to another place nearby.
