COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - The South Carolina trooper ticketed for driving 130 mph in a 70 mph zone has been removed from duty for driving with a suspended license.
Public Safety director Mark Keel told a Columbia newspaper Senior Trooper J.D. McGaha was suspended Friday.
Officials say McGaha's driver's license was suspended Dec. 3 through Feb. 20 for failing to pay vehicle taxes. Keel says the fact McGaha drove a patrol car and cited people during that time could jeopardize cases he made.
Last month, McGaha was suspended from the Patrol after his unmarked car was stopped on Interstate 20 by another trooper. Keel said McGaha was assigned to direct traffic at the Carolina Cup and was running late.
McGaha has been with the Highway Patrol since 2005.

Guess this State Trooper thinks he is "above the law".
