Some people I talk to just make it a habit to shoot out the SD ammunition at the range to make sure it's all working, then shoot all their ball for practice. Then when done they put the SD back in the mags.
I suppose that is their effective re-assurance that the ammo cycles and it keeps fresh rounds in the mag. But I suppose that could be expensive to restock if you visit the range very often.
I do it like Barney Fife. I keep one round in my shirt pocket and load as needed.
Springs dont gat week by being compressed, it's the working of a spring (compressing and decompressing) that weakins a spring.
