Took a photo of the factory "non-exact" edge extractor. Remember only about 1000 rounds through the gun. Update, since I posted this picture, I've found that all factory extractors are rounded like that. The big difference I now understand is in the material the extractors are made of - the Volquartsen will retain it's sharp edge longer.

This morning I did the rest of the surgery. Got the trigger in, adjusted the take-up and over travel. Got the hammer bushing in, which eliminated the mag safety, makes seating the mag, removing the mag, and disassembly much easier. Put in the Volquartsen sear. Wow what a difference!

Went to the range - found out I'd put everything back together correctly. Sweet! Popped off 90 rounds fairly rapidly (as fast as I could re-align the sights) at 10 meters/33 feet. Best group (Rear "V" and front Hi-Viz) had 6 of 10 shots hitting the 1 1/8" dot I had stuck on the target. This is REALLY good for me, though some of you with younger eyes and steadier hands could do the same thing at 25 yards.

For all the guns I've had, I've never before gone past the normal disassembly the factory recommends for cleaning.

Looks nice Tom! Now all you need is a threaded barrel and a suppressor.

Kiddingly asking...... And why do I need a suppresor, I always wear my earmuffs? Actually, I feel a suppresor makes a pistol ungainly, and since I'm not an assassin, I really don't have a need for it. And I can't justify the $$ involved in buying and getting the permit for one. I don't want to fill out anymore forms and give the gov. more info about me. They've got enough already. I have friends here in Ga who won't get their CCW because of that very issue - no forms no prints.

Well, you don't actually need a suppressor, I do it because I enjoy using them, they are legal and I can. Filling out the forms is no different than filling out your taxes. I've not submitted a set of prints yet and everyone got approved. Going on 13yrs with my GA Firearms Pemit,no problems here. Don't have any ideas why your friends are scared to give their prints?......tell them to loosen the tinfoil. If they aren't happy with the law tell they to try to have it changed.

Update, had Greg at the gun shop check the trigger pull on my re-do and it came out to 2.5 lbs. Nice.

I figure actually the gov. has all the info on me they could possibly get, what with my military service back in the 70's and more recently with all the info they collect for the USCG/Homeland Security for my captain's license. I have no (well, some...?) secrets...

As for my friend (the one I'm specifically thinking about), yeah he's a bit anal/paranoid. He's told me not to send any more emails to him about guns - he doesn't want anyone to know that he has any, or is even interested..... publicly claims he "sold" them all...

The difference in trigger pull I credit to the Volquartsen sear. The trigger helped some - mostly the adjustable take-up and over-travel, but the sear (I got from their "bargin bin" was just $12, normally about $25 I think. the trigger was about $25 and the extractor was $11. The hammer bushing was $10 including shipping from Sam Lam in Canada.
