I had a 21 years ago......I sold it to get a 23 then sold that to get a 19.

I have a couple of 1911's. I have a S&W , a colt , and a Rock Island. The Rock Island was my first. I still like the rock island the best. It was cheap but has never let me down. I have about 10,000 rounds threw it now and still no problems. The smith is nice and shoots very good but it was almost 3 times as much as the rock. It does shoot better though. The colt is awesome but with it bein as old as it is it don't get shot much.

My son e-mailed me from Texas and said he wanted to get a .45 auto (he said he liked the 1911 style), but to remember he's a newly wed and on a budget.

1911 on a budget, I would say Rock Island or Taurus. My PT1911 has a little less than 1k rounds through it and has given me no problems. Of course, you said he just got married, so you could throw in with him and get him something nicer for a wedding gift if you were so inclined.
