Dead dog
Deer hunting in Banks county weekend before last, just before 8, I see something trotting in my direction from the end of the pasture. Light still wasn't great (or my eyes are just too old) so I couldn't tell for sure but the gait said coyote. I threw up the rifle and couldn't find it. When I found it again a few seconds later it was much closer than I thought it should be and coming from a different direction (right to left) but still on the trot. A couple of lip squeaks and he stopped and gave me that combined look of "I'm going to eat you" and "Uh-oh!". It was quartering towards me and took one just forward of the left shoulder and out through the right. Bonded 140 grain from the .260 and it never twitched. I've never shot one that didn't put up a fight. Nice change. Can't say for sure but I think he had some running buddies with him.
I cut his head off right after this pic as I want to bleach the skull. I left his decapitated body on a hay bale as a sign to the others.
I'm 6'0" for scale. Decent yote. Male. I suspect the neighbor's new calves and next year's fawns are appreciative.
Luke 11:21 If guns are outlawed, how shall we shoot the liberals?
