    Default Funny Story

Last weekend a friend bought a Savage in .300 Win Mag. He came to the range Tuesday evening to check the scope and sight it in. My friend stands about 5'6" and I'm 6'1". After he shoots it a few times he turns it over to me for a couple rounds. I get prone and put it to the shoulder, I struggled to get the proper eye relief for the scope but finally got it sighted on the 1000 yard sim target. I squeezed the trigger and the rifle bucked back. Recoil wasn't bad but the with the short eye relief the scope smacked me in the forehead leaving a nice 1 inch semi circle gash. My friend came up and asked if I was ok. Here I am with blood running down my face laughing and checking his scope to make sure it was ok.

note to self, when shooting a rifle belonging to someone who is short, make sure that the eye relief is far enough for us taller suckers.

When someone asks what happened I just tell them I got smart with my wife and she smacked the crap out of me.

I bet you don't do that again.

It's what you call a "learning moment". I understand since I also seem to learn the hard way as well.

Been there. Done that. It's a lesson you usually only need to learn once.
