I have a 8 person tent from Cabela's, had it probably 10 years, I've waterproofed it a few times, but been a good tent. Enough room for 2 and all my crap without being all bunched up, and sometimes my dog. As far as gear, all I really take is 2old ass 32degree sleeping bags, a coleman stove, 2 good coolers, 2 old coleman lanterns w/spare wicks, plenty of water and some firewood if I can drive or boat to where I'm camping. Probably some other stuff I'm not thinking about. Normally I'll do most of my cooking on a grill top that I made to sit over the fire, or directly over the fire, and most of the time I'll have one cooler with the food, and the better of the two just filled to the top with ice to refill the food cooler with.

Tent Cots are the way to go. When it was 20 degrees on Cumberland in December I was never cold inside it.
Don't have any pics of the tent and don't remember the model name, but I have a North Face 4 person, 4 season tent that I fucking love. Haven't used it since I was living in Colorado, but that thing has seen more than it's fair share of camping at 12-14,000 feet and a metric-shit-ton of snow and it is still as good as new. The wife is bugging me to get a new tent that she saw at REI. The thing is bigger than our Ford Escape and has a divider wall. Her thinking is that we can have a sleeping area and a living room. My thought is tough shit, you get a lean-to and some pine boughs to sleep on. Wonder why she never wants to go camping anymore....
I was lucky to pick up a Coleman 8 man tent for $50. Nice investment. I've only used it one so far, but expect more action as it cools...

so when is the official US G&G camping trip? we could do it in S. Ga and hunt piggies during the day again!
they don't make it any more--eureka portage special--floor was 10x12 --center height 6/5--side walls were 24 in
GaJeep, that sounds great!
